But I want it NOW!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Could you imagine a world where  there are no lines, no crowds, no hassles and sometimes no prices? It be a dream come true, that’s for sure.  But for celebrities this so-called dream world is a reality.  You would think that because celebrities are already amongst the highest paid in our society they shouldn’t be mothered with gifties. Wrong. Businesses say lavishing celebs with perks or providing stars with extra service makes perfect business sense in the land that worships all things celebrity.

Southern California businesses of all sorts are inventing new ways to roll out the red carpet to famous customers, hoping that rubbing shoulders with celebrity royalty will boost their image and their income.  For example, it can take four hours to wait for a lane to open up at Lucky Strike Bowling Alley in LA. But, owner Steven Foster says, “To stand around waiting for a lane is something we like to avoid for celebrities.”

Celebs don’t have to wait in line for lavish clubs,  and can get immediate reservations at any hotel or restaurant despite them already being filled by non-celebs.  They get the lavish one-of-a-kind cars that are not even sold to the public.  Rapper Fifty Cent drives the only Special Edition Pontiac G8, Tom Cruise is a proud owner of Bugatti Veyron, and even David Beckham’s 5 year old son Brooklyn has a toy Porsche valued at $72,610.

Pregnant celebrities can get their own wards at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. when they’re delivering. These “Deluxe Maternity Suites” are two- or three-room suites that have all the amenities, such as full-size tubs, and salon services such as manicures, pedicures and haircuts.

So, if your among the 3.9  million that aren’t celebs, keep dreaming.

Aww does the jail bird want Starbucks?

Sure we are used to seeing celebs on the cover of tabloid mags, but walking down prison row? Well, let’s just say we’ve got a better chance of finding Jimmy Hoffa.

In the summer of 2007 Paris Hilton was arrested for driving with a suspended license. However her 45-day jail sentence was cut down to 23 days because of “good behavior” (showing up in court) and medical considerations (refusing to eat jail food).  Oh, and did I mention she stayed in a section of jail reserved just for celebrities?  Yeah, that sounds like some pretty harsh jail treatment to me…

Which then leads me to my next point.  How has Paris Hilton contributed to our society? I am not sure about you, but I am not finding an answer to this question, (I even googled it). Miss Hilton has not helped our society in any way except by maybe boosting Carl Jr.’s hamburger sales after she taught America how to wash a car in a $5,000 bathensuit embedded with Swarovski crystals. I hate to say it, but she is useless to society and we are probably better off without her in the public eye.

I don’t care what the courts say, Hilton left jail early simply because  of her hotel heiress status, and because she is a celeb and is a household name. If a person breaks the law, then they break the law. Had this happened to “Joe Schmo” they would attend court, receive their sentencing, and do their time. None of this sentencing cut in half  for good behavior stuff.

This is just another one of those cases where celebrity narcissicm gets in the way. Paris feels she is so superior that she is entitled to special treatment, and sadly, our court system agrees.

Kanye..Kanye..Kanye…

I’ll admit it. I am obsessed with the lives of celebrities, yet I am also one of those people that wonder why our society is  fascinated in the lives of celebrities.  Growing up right outside of Los Angeles, I have been exposed to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, and also the not-so glitzy parts of Hollywood.  And with the excitement of what happened this past week at the VMA’s makes me ask myself a question that I am ever so eager to answer…Why is it that celebs receive special treatment, and why do they feel as if they are entitled to it?

O.k. so let me do a quick recap of what went down at the VMA’s (just in case you have been living under a rock these past few days) Cute country teen singer Taylor Swift was in the middle of making her acceptance speech for winning best music video, when out of nowhere Kanye West appears and sticks his face into the mic saying that the real winner of the best video award should have went to Beyonce.  The moment he made a fool of himself everyone got quiet.  Beyonce was stunned, along with an awkward moment between Mr. West and Taylor Swift.

Ummm..rude?

You would think kanye would be embarrased, however he didn’t seem to show any signs.  Perhaps its because of my whole theory on how celebs feel it is o.k to blurt out nonsense rude things to all of America because well…they are celebrities.

Lets not forget this is the same Kanye that told NBC back in 2005 post Hurricane Katrina, that I quote, “George Bush doesn’t care about black people.” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIUzLpO1kxI Now, I know Kanye is not the only celeb that has said compeltely rude and unnecesarry things on TV..more examples to come. Tune in next week.
